The invention relates to a method for determining completeness of an optical disk and a method for playing the optical disk. The method for playing the optical disk includes: focusing on and tracking on the optical disk; when an optical pickup head fails to track on the optical disk, detecting whether or not the optical disk includes any data; if the optical disk includes any data, re-starting up the servo and determining whether or not a file system is included in a file information area; if the file information area has no file system, reading the most outside data of a video data area to find out a file allocation data table and then playing the data stored in the video data area according to the file allocation data table.
