Gear cutter and a method of making shaving cutter using same

This invention provides a gear cutter, including a plurality of cutting gears. The cutting gears include: a first gear, for forming a first diverging profile on a workpiece; and a second gear, for forming a curved profile on the workpiece. Using the gear cutter, this invention further provides a method for forming a shaving cutter, including the steps of: setting on a workpiece a first diverging pat and a curve profile intersecting each other at a predetermined location; causing a rotating axis of the gear cutter to form an angle with a rotating axis of the workpiece; and causing the gear cutter to follow a cutting path so as to perform roll-cutting to the workpiece so that the first and second gears would form a shaving cutter having a first diverging profile and an escape region profile.
