Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a process for the preparation of an alkylated aminoplast resin, comprising the step of bringing together and reacting: - a C5-C30 alcohol; and - one or more chosen from the group consisting of: an aminoplast resin, a mixture of an amino compound and an aldehyde, and an alkylated aminoplast resin prepared from a C1-C4 alcohol. The C5-C30 alcohol is preperably chosen from the group consisting of cyclohexanol and tetrahydrofurfurylalcohol. The invention also relates to the alkylated aminoplast resin obtainable, and to its use, for example as cross-linker in coating compositions such as powder coating compositions.
