Zusammenfassung:A pencil type glow plug (1; 101) for an internal combustion engine comprises essentially a housing (8; 108) and a connection bolt arranged in the housing (8; 108), as well as a ceramic glow plug (3; 103) which can be brought into contact with the connection bolt and possesses one side (2; 102) which protrudes into the combustion chamber. According to this invention, the glow plug (3; 103) is provided with a porous layer (9; 109) on at least the part (3; 103) that protrudes into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
