Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a sliding block for universal spindles used in the drives of rolling mills, in which the universal spindle (1) disposes of a flat journal (2), the tongue of which (3) extends into a cylindrical aperture of the spindle head (4), said aperture being situated transverse to the spindle's axis of rotation, and in which the sliding block (5) is situated between the flat journal (2) and the spindle head (4). The sliding block (5) is formed as a composite consisting of a metallic inner core (6) surrounded by an outer layer (7) made of polymer fibre material.
