A toilet comprising a bowl main body for sealing the interior, a bowl having a water washing function, a receiving vessel positioned in the bowl main body for storing excreta, a discharge pipe connected at its one end to a discharge port in the bowl and opposed at the other end to the interior of the receiving vessel, a suction mechanism positioned inside or outside the bowl main body above the receiving vessel for absorbing the excreta from the discharge pipe to flow the excreta down into the receiving vessel while sucking gas alone, a bypass exhaust pipe having an exhaust port in parallel with the suction mechanism and adapted to be closed during operation of the suction mechanism, and an exhaust fan for constantly sucking the outside air from the discharge port in the bowl and discharging the internal gas to the outside from the internal space of the bowl main body via the suction mechanism or the bypass exhaust pipe.
