Size recovery by a combination of desizing with dispersants/complexing agents and subsequent recycling

A process for treating especially cellulosic fabric comprises the steps of: a) desizing the fabric with aqueous treatment liquors comprising a combination of one or more conventional dispersants i) and/or one or more complexing agents ii), followed by washing and rinsing b) bleaching the fabric, preferably with peroxide, without an alkaline scour of the textile material having to be carried out between steps a) and b), c) introducing the size-water mixture obtained from a) into an ultrafiltration stage and separating this desizing liquor into a concentrated size solution and process water. d) reusing the size solution obtained in c) in a sizing operation preceding step a), if appropriate after further cleaning of the size and/or addition of fresh size.
