Zusammenfassung:Xylitol derivatives of the general formula wherein R and R are the same and represent halogen, tosyloxy or mesyloxy, in which case R and R represent hydroxy or R and R as well as R and R together form oxygen bridges, R , whatever the values of R , R , R and R , is hydrogen, alkanoyl, aralkanoyl or aroyl, exhibit cytostatic activity. They can be prepared from xylitol by standard methods. The compounds can be formulated for pharmaceutical use in conventional manner.
