METHOD OF PREPARING N-METHYLNITROPHTHALIMIDES

Nitrated derivatives of N-methylphthalimide can be obtained by contacting N-methylphthalimide dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid with concentrated nitric acid at a temperature from about 60 DEG -80 DEG C., and thereafter extracting the formed nitro derivatives with methylene chloride.
