1477368 Measuring railway vehicle couplings GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 19 July 1974 [31 August 1973] 32155/74 Heading G1M [Also in Division B7] An apparatus for gauging, relative to the coupling end of an automatic central buffer coupling body 3, the angular orientation of an end surface 22, Fig. 3 of the coupling body and the horizontal and vertical position of the centre of the end pivot joint 19 of the coupling body, comprises: a stand 1 carrying a contour 2 against which the coupling end of the coupling body is clamped; a frame 9 mounted by a universal joint 8 on the stand 1; a centering piece 18 carried by the free end of the frame 9 and for engagement in the pivot joint 19; a bearing plate 21 carried by the free end of the frame 9 and for engagement with an upper surface 20 of the coupling body; stops 13, Fig. 1 for limiting the pivotting movement of the frame 9 in the horizontal and vertical directions; a plate 25 universally mounted on a plate 23 and movable into engagement with the end surface 22 of the coupling body; measuring pins 26 engaging the plate 25; and a compensating spring 14 for applying an adjustable upward force to the free end of the frame 9. In use, the angular orientation of the end surface 22 of the coupling body may be determined by measuring the positions of the measuring pins 26 relative to the plate 23. The apparatus includes surfaces 28, Fig. 1, for gauging, by means of feeler gauges, other surfaces of the coupling body.
