Zusammenfassung:	The operating system is for a machine using a number of different tools, particularly one in a transfer line. The tools are moved between waiting and working positions to a set programme. All tools used in a predetermined sequence are secured in their waiting positions in an indexed carrier unit. When there is a change in the machining operations, the unit with its tools is detached from the indexing drive and removed, being replaced by another one with different tools. The individual tools can be transported between the unit and the machine by an automatic quick-change mechanism, while tool setting is effected in the machine itself.
