Zusammenfassung: | A process is disclosed for absorbing impact energy, in particular in automatic couplings of rail vehicles, by means of devices with an elastomer shock absorber having two piston rods with different diameters arranged in a common working cylinder. According to this process, the impact energy is absorbed by overcoming in several steps the flow resistance in a compressible and precompressed elastomer liquid. As a result of this process, the device for absorbing impact energy has a characteristic curve which allows using the device in different working conditions. The new characteristic curve of the device show a high rise of the piston stroke relative to the impact strength when the outer impact forces are low and a markedly lower rise of the piston stroke relative to the impact strength when the outer impact forces are high. The device for absorbing impact energy is characterised in that the elastomer shock absorber (4) has two piston rods with different diameters arranged in a common working cylinder (5). The piston rod (7) with the smaller diameter lies with its end on the bottom (3) of the body (1), and the bottom (8) of the elastomer shock absorber (4) bumps against the shock damper (9). |
