Zusammenfassung:Process for preparing a sorbent composition comprising the following two processing steps: (a) Bringing a zinc component into contact with a colloidal oxide component containing water as a liquid medium and with a metal-based component. Subsequently the obtained mixture is dried at a temperature ranging from 50 °C to 300 °C to thereby substantially remove all the colloidal oxide component liquid medium. (b) Composition obtained in the step (a) is then subjected to steam treatment, whereby such treatment is carried out at a temperature ranging from 200 °C to 900 °C for a period of 1 to 24 hours. Described is also a composition producable by this method and use such of composition for desulfurization of a liquid flow. Sorpčná kompozícia sa pripraví tak, že sa (a) zinková zložka uvedie do styku s koloidnou oxidovou zložkou a so zložkou na báze oxidu kovu; následne sa suší pri teplote 50 °C až 300 °C, čím sa odstráni v podstate všetko kvapalné médium koloidnej oxidovej zložky; a následne (b) sa kompozícia získaná v kroku (a) podrobí pôsobeniu pary, pričom toto pôsobenie sa uskutočňuje pri teplote 200 °C až 900 °C počas 1 hodiny až 24 hodín. Opísaná je aj kompozícia vyrobiteľná týmto spôsobom a jej použitie na odstránenie síry z prúdu tekutiny obsahujúceho síru.ŕ
