Zusammenfassung:	A security document 10 comprising a protective layer 14 overlying a fibrous substrate layer 11, and an elongate security element 16 partially embedded within the fibrous substrate layer 11. The protective layer 14 is at least partially transparent such that the fibrous substrate layer 11 is partially visible through the protective layer 14. At least one region 18 of the security element 16 is exposed at a surface 12 of the fibrous substrate layer 11 and is adhered to the protective layer 14. At least one region of the security element 16 is embedded within the fibrous substrate layer 11. The security element 16 is substantially indistinguishable to the naked eye when viewed in reflected light incident upon the protective layer 14 and the security element 16. Also disclosed, is a method of manufacturing the security document 10.
