Novel multifunctional compound for the treatment or the retardation of neurodegenerative diseases e.g. Alzheimer's disease and related pathological conditions. Formula (I); wherein, R is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug moiety, being selected from the category of acetic acid derivatives (such as indomethacin), propionic acid derivatives (e.g. naproxen, ketoprofen) or various other acids with anti-inflammatory action which do not belong to the Above mentioned categories, A is a CHOH group or a CH2 group or a (CH2)2 group, Y is an antioxidant moiety (cysteamine or cysteine ethyl ester) or neuroprotective moiety (2-Pyridin-3-yl-alkanol) or NGF-inducing moiety (e.g. 2-methoxy-4-methyl-phenol).
