In an embodiment, the coupler is configured for selectively, matingly, insertably, slideably, and/or releasably engaging with at least one region, section, or segment of an 10 elongate portion of the medical tool, such a barrel of the medical tool. When coupled to the medical tool, the illumination device's (a) handle is disposed substantially non- parallel, transverse, or perpendicular to the elongate portion of the medical tool, and (b) lighting member can direct or output illumination toward or to a working or distal end of the medical tool.
