The invention provides a personnel identification system and method, and the system can comprise: an information collection module which is configured to collect the information of a detected object;the first video acquisition module that is configured to acquire an image related to the detected object and acquire multiple features related to the detected object by utilizing multiple identification methods based on the image related to the detected object; the storage module that is configured to associatively store the information about the detected object and the characteristics about the detected object; the second video acquisition module that is configured to track and shoot a suspected object so as to acquire an image about the suspected object, and acquire multiple features of thesuspected object by utilizing the multiple identification methods based on the image of the suspected object; and the identification module that is configured to identify the identity information of the suspect based on the acquired multiple features of the suspect and the multiple features related to the detected object and stored in the storage module.
