Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A method of performing a routine on a mass spectrometer, comprising: generating a test mass spectrum from a reference sample, such as perfluorotributylamine (PFTBA), with known chemical properties using the mass spectrometer; performing an autotune procedure 16 on the mass spectrometer, e.g. the adjustment of voltages applied to components in the ion source, if a first characteristic of the test spectrum, e.g. the relative intensity or shape of at least one peak, is deemed not to meet corresponding predetermined performance criteria 11, 12: and performing a resolution adjustment and calibration procedure 17, e.g. adjusting the voltages applied to a quadrupole, if a second characteristic of the test mass spectrum, e.g. the width and/or position of at least one peak, is deemed not to meet corresponding predetermined performance criteria 13, 14. Also disclosed is a method of detecting a leak in the mass spectrometer by determining if the amount of water and/or air in a background mass spectrum generated by the spectrometer is above a predetermined threshold.
