Zusammenfassung: | WASTE PROCESSING APPARATUS There is disclosed waste processing apparatus 100 comprising: a pyrolyser 300; and a feed assembly 200 comprising: a feed duct 204, 206 and a variable pitch feed screw 232 disposed within the feed duct for conveying waste from a waste inlet 210, 224 to a waste outlet 210, 224 of the feed duct 204, 206; wherein the pitch of the feed screw 232 reduces along its length in a direction from the waste inlet to the waste outlet so that in use waste received in the feed duct 204, 206 is compacted as it is conveyed from the waste inlet to the waste outlet. There is also disclosed waste processing apparatus 100 comprising a pyrolyser 300; and a feed assembly 200 comprising: a feed duct 204, 206; a feed screw 212, 232 disposed within the feed duct 204, 206 for conveying waste from a waste inlet to a waste outlet of the feed duct 204, 206; a rotary drive 240 for causing the feed screw 212, 232 to convey waste from the waste inlet to the waste outlet; a rotational resistance sensor 244 for monitoring a parameter relating to resistance to rotation; and a rotary drive controller 242 configured to cause the rotary-output-speed of the rotary drive 240 to reduce when the monitored parameter indicates excessive resistance to rotation.
