Detergent bars according to the parent Specification comprising (a) one or more potassium alkyl sulphates derived from primary fatty alcohols containing at least 10 carbon atoms, and (b) as plasticizer either (i) a primary fatty alcohol having more than 16 carbon atoms and a melting point above 40 DEG C., or (ii) a partial fatty acid ester of a polyol, an ester of a hydroxylated fatty acid, or a condensate of a fatty alcohol and an alkylene oxide, such substances having a molecular weight above 200 and a melting point above 40 DEG C., also contain (c) as softeners and binding agents, one or more amylaceous substances, such as starch, gelatinized starch, degraded starch, solubilized starch, and oxyethylenated starch. Plasticizer (b) generally has a melting point above 55 DEG C., and comprises 10-50% by weight of (a), while (c) comprises 5-60%, perferably 15-40%, by weight of the composition, which may also include colour and perfume, but do not contain soap.
