Zusammenfassung:	The non-saponifiable components and the fatty acids present in tall oil are separated from each other by a process in which the fatty acids are converted into the corresponding low-melting soaps that are soluble in the non-saponifiable components, and the latter are then distilled off from the resulting homogeneous medium. The fatty acids can then be extracted by hydrolysing the fatty acid soaps and possibly purified by fractionation under vacuum.
