The appts. guides forms into the correct position for printing by a teleprinter or by computer printout appts. It brings a single form into the printing position when an optical reader senses that the horizontal and vertical edges of the from are correctly aligned. The optical reader is actuated by a start mark located at a predetermined distance from the lower edge of the form. The form bears an identification codce, and the distance between the first line of the code and the first line of type is constant. When the optical reader detects the f irst line of the code, the form is fed forwards to the first line of type.
