Zusammenfassung: | A glass material is preheated in a feed screw (3) which is heated by a flow of hot oil that has been heated via heat exchange with the exhaust gases leaving the furnace (1). Melting glass comprises charging a furnace with crushed glass and/or glass raw materials and melting the glass using radiant heat generated by the flames of a natural gas and/or oil-fuelled burner. The glass material and/or raw materials are preheated in a feed screw used to supply them to the furnace. The screw is heated by a flow of hot oil that has been heated via heat exchange with the exhaust gases leaving the furnace. An independent claim is also included for the process apparatus, comprising a melting furnace, a feed screw and a heat exchanger (5). |
