Compression device for X-ray investigation has two fixture devices working in conjunction with strips on the sides of the X-ray abnles. The devices (3-5) are connected with a belt (4) which can apply a pressure to a patient lying on the table. The one fixture device in the strip longitudinal direction is slidably arranged on one strip but is locked against movemetn in a direction other than longitudinal when the belt does not apply pressure on a patient. The fixture is firmly locked, however, to the strip by reason of the tension force of the belt when it exerts a pressure on a patient. The fixture arrangement is such that on activation of a free coupling component it automatically draws in the belt by spring effect or other means.
