Also claimed is a pretreatment device including treatment stations for receiving and treatment of material and conveyance to a composting plant for continuous processing. between the treatment stations runs a transport system comprising containers and a forward feed component for movement of material between the stations and onto the composting plant. The first treatment station receives cold sorted waste material in plastic bags and is preferably a concrete bunker having a capacity of 200m3. Material not suitable for composting is segregated and removed for burning. metallic material is removed in the pretreatment stations.
