Zusammenfassung:A molten metal (5) is fed into a horizontally arranged mould (1) through an opening (2) made in its wall and cast strands (6) withdrawn from opposite ends of the mould. The meniscus of the liquid metal (5) is disposed outside the mould (1), and the rate of feeding the metal (5) into the mould (1) equals the rate at which the strands (6) are formed at the place where the metal (5) is fed into the mould (1). The mould (1) is mounted for oscillation by means of an appropriate mechanism (10) is tightly connected with a tundish (3) through a metal conduit (4) fitted into the opening (2) made in the wall of the mould (1) and located substantially at an equal distance from its ends. A separating element, provided for setting up the initial casting formation zone is arranged coaxially with the opening (2) inside the mould (1).
