Zusammenfassung:The invention refers to a process for the application of metal on the work surface of a roller through charging by means of discrete electrical discharges in the form of sparks, at which an electrical current from a unipolar power source is applied between each roller, which is to be coated and an electrode, which is designed in order to work with the surface of the roller, to be coated. The metal is applied directly to the work surface of the roller during the roller's cycle of operation with a speed that is higher than the rate of wear for the metal to be coated. The metal coating is applied until the coat forms a border thickness, of which the border thickness is held constant in and in order to retain the original form of the roller's work surface. Furthermore, the invention refers to a device for carrying out the process. The device is arranged on a working roll housing in a rolling mill in such a way, that the wiping contacts (7) and electrodes (8) adjoin the rollers (2), whereby the electrodes (8) are arranged in order to work together with the work surface (4) of the rollers (2).
