Cutter arrangement

In a cutter arrangement a plurality of edged tools 13 are situated each in their own cavity 7, evenly distributed about the periphery of a rotating cutter drum 3. In each cavity 7 there is a holder 15 which, thrusting against the front wall 11 of the cavity in the direction of rotation, firmly clamps the edged tool 13 against the back wall 9 of the cavity. The holder 15 contains a rotary set screw 21 and a support device 23 which can be adjusted in the direction of the rear wall by the screw 21. In order to make it possible for even inexperienced personnel to easily achieve an exactly balanced clamping force at each set screw 21, the screw 21 extends in the direction from the mouth 19 of the cavity into the cavity and is accessible for tightening by means of a conventional tightening nut with adjustable torque, and the support device 23 is a mechanism which, upon rotation of the set screw 21, is able to expand between the walls 9 and 11 and, by thrusting against the front wall 11, firmly clamp the edged tool 13 against the back wall 9. The cutter arrangement is especially suitable as a chopping drum in a chipping machine but can also be used in a planing machine.
