Zusammenfassung:The character reader system uses a scanning device (10) which is moved manually across the data field (12), with each data signal obtained being associated with a signal indicating the scanning direction. The data signals are supplied to storage means, with the signals indicating the scanning direction supplied to means for determining the scanning direction for the majority of the data characters. The latter means control further selection means, such that only those data signals for which the scanning direction signal is the same as that for the majority of the data characters are selected from the store.
