A braid and a method for producing it

A braid of textile material has the form of a cord 10 formed by at least two braided parts 11, 12; 15, 16, where said parts are separated at the braid frame and warp thread eyes 13, 14. When using a heat-stabilizable textile material, the braid eye's 14 parts 11, 12 can be moved apart and heat- stabilized in the moved-apart position in order to form an open braid eye. Based on one method of producing the braid, the textile material is laced as a cord 10 with at least two eye-forming laced together parts 11, 12; 15, 16, which at the lacing are separated at the braid frame and the warp thread eyes. With concurrent manufacture of many braids, groups of numerous adjacent, parallel series 17 are produced in a hook loom, where at least one cross-sectional connection thread 18 is laid in between the parts 11, 12 in the adjacent braid frame eyes 14 of the group of braids where the connection threads are used to bunch together the braids included in the group as braid bunches, which are thereafter cut free from each other.
