Zusammenfassung:1414801 Disc record playback TED BILDPLATTEN AG AEG-TELEFUNKEN TELDEC 21 Aug 1972 [26 Aug 1971 6 Oct 1971] 38847/72 Heading G5R [Also in Division B6] In an arrangement for playing back disc record carriers made of foil material which can be damaged by touch, each record is fed to the play back machine in a sheath which is formed with a slot or recess to allow access to the record by holding members which retain the record when the sheath is withdrawn. After play back the disc is reloaded in the sheath by a reverse process. Two types of sheath are described. The first 3, Fig. 9 has a slot 9 in both sides extending from the open edge to allow engagement of the centre of the record 1 by a drive and holding member 71 when the sheath and record are entered into the play back machine. The second 26 is formed with a cover 28 and the slot 27 is formed in one side only, 26a, of the sheath. The sleeves are formed of flexible material so that when horizontal one side can be raised or lowered relative to the other to allow record insertion. This action is facilitated in sheath 3 by having one edge extending beyond the other at the open edge. When a record in sheath 26 is entered in the direction of the arrow into the play back machine, Fig. 8, with the slotted side 26a of the sheath downwards, the sheath engages a locking member 49 which trips a lever 50 so that a friction element 53 on the lever moves the record sleeve into engagement with roller 51. The friction between the element and record is greater than that between the record and the sleeve so the sleeve can be withdrawn from the machine. Cam wheel 43 is then rotated by means (not shown) to release via arm 44 the spring pressure acting on lever 50 so that element 53 releases the record which is then centred, driven and played back by means (also not shown). After play back the sleeve is reentered in the direction of the arrow and the sleeve weight acts on pivotable member 55 to raise element 61 so that the record and the upperside 26b of the sleeve are lifted to assist entry of the record into the sleeve. An arrangement in which the record is removed from the sleeve and is driven along a curved path to the play back position is described in Specification 1,414,802.
