Zusammenfassung:1291622 Operating rail vehicle cargo doors W M JAEKLE P V GARIN W E THOMFORD W M GREB N N UDALOFF and S H PEERY JNR 20 July 1970 [15 Aug 1969] 35102/70 Heading B7L The cargo doors 16 of a rail vehicle 10 which are pivoted at their lower ends to the floor 14 and adapted to carry automobiles 22, are operated by a fork 42 mounted on a truck 40, each prong of the fork being adapted to enter a slot 28, 30 of the door and by manoeuvering of the truck and adjusting the height of the fork the door may be opened or closed. The fork ends are triangular in shape to prevent them leaving the slots except at the ends 36, 38 or through openings 32, 34. Further, the rollers on the fork ends assist in their movement along the slots. In the locked position of the doors, a rod 98 extends through an aperture 110 in the vehicle roof and abuts a lever 112 which by means of rods 86 and 74 causes a pivoted block 72 to adopt an out-of-use position. To unlock the door the fork is introduced into the slots through openings 32, 34 and caused to abut trip member 90 which by means of levers 92, 94 and 96 withdraws the rod 98 from aperture 110. With the rod withdrawn and lever 112 free to pivot, a spring 88 acts on rod 86 causing the block 72 to be pivoted on to the slot whereby the fork cannot be withdrawn from the slots without the bolt 98 again entering the aperture.
