1378308 Tetraacetylethylenediamine BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 14 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 17262/72 Heading C2C N,N,N1,N1-Tetraacetylethylenediamine is prepared continuously by reacting N,N1-diacetylethylenediamine with acetic anhydride in a ratio by weight of 1 : 3-30 at 120‹-170‹ C. wherein acetic acid is distilled off at the rate at which it is formed, the reaction mixture is cooled, the precipitated tetraacetylethylenediamine is separated, and 50-90% of the residual mixture is replenished with the reactants and returned to the reaction. The process may be conducted in a number of successive reaction zones, or in a column having at least five trays.
