A rotary wheel has a circular recess in the region of the core ends in which alternate magnetizable and non-magnetizable parts are fixedly secured so that during rotation of the wheel, the flux passed alternately by said magnetizable and non-magnetizable parts is varied so that pulses are generated in the winding.
