Zusammenfassung:1327946 17# - Hydroxy - 7α - methyl - 1α,2α- methylene - #4 - androsten - 3 - one and acylates thereof SCHERING AG 7 Dec 1970 [6 Dec 1969] 58022/70 Heading C2U The novel title steroids are prepared by dechlorination and ring opening of 4-chloro-17#- (hydroxy or acyloxy)-1α,2α; 6α,7α-dimethylene- #4-androsten-3-ones using zinc and acetic acid, or by reaction of 17#-(hydroxy or acyloxy)-1α,2α- methylene - #4,6 - androstadien - 3 - ones with a methyl magnesium halide in the presence of cuprous chloride with subsequent isomerization of any 7α-methyl-#5-steroid formed by acid treatment. Resulting 17-acylates may be hydrolysed and the 17-ol acylated. The novel steroids are stated to be anabolic agents with a favourable anabolic-androgenic ratio, and they may be made up into pharmaceutical compositions with suitable carriers.
