Zusammenfassung:1288421 Read only memory TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc 7 Nov 169 [30 Dec 1968] 54710/69 Heading G4A A read only memory comprises rows of conductive elements selectively coupled between row and column conductors such that the presence and absence of a coupled element first and second or second and first binary states respectively, the convention adapted for any given row being such that the row contains no more than a predetermined number, e.g. half the total number of bit positions, of coupled elements and being indicated by a tag. Each row where the total number of ones to be stored is greater than half the number of bit positions is complemented and a tag bit is added at the end of the row. The procedure is repeated for the columns, the tags being located at the foot of the column. The rows are then re-examined and the sequence repeated until the number of ones in any row or any column is not more than one half the number of bits in that row or column. The store which may comprise diodes selectively coupled between word and bit lines is then constructed in accordance with the data derived from the application of the above procedure. The tags are stored in an additional row and column. In the illustration the diode connections are shown as dots. The data is read out through a system of gates which reconstructs the original data. The exclusive-OR gates 41-46 are connected to the column outputs and to the tag bits stored in the lowest row. The data read from the columns is thus complemented if the associated tags are ones. The exclusive -OR gates 51-56 operate in a similar fashion, one input of each gate being connected to the tag column output.
