A power cable (l) comprising: a conductor (7) having a first conductor section (7a) and a second conductor section (7b) which are connected electrically by a conductor joint (7c), and an insulation system (9) arranged around the conductor (7), wherein the insulation system (9) comprises an inner semiconducting layer (11) arranged around the conductor (7), an insulation layer (13, 15) arranged around the inner semiconducting layer (11), and an outer semiconducting layer (17), wherein the insulation system (9) has a first insulation system section arranged around the first conductor section (7a), a second insulation system section arranged around the second conductor section (7b), and a joint insulation system section extending across the conductor joint (7c), bridging the first insulation system section with the second insulation system section, wherein the insulation layer (15) of the joint insulation system section is radially thicker than the insulation layer (13) of the first insulation system section and the insulation layer of the second insulation system section.
