Zusammenfassung:	A control device (100) and a method (200) for controlling a vehicle powertrain (2) during engine braking are provided. The vehicle powertrain (2) comprises a combustion engine (3), a gearbox (4) configured to selectively transfer driving torque from the combustion engine to driving wheels (7), and service brakes (10) configured to brake the driving wheels. The method (200) comprises, when a rotational speed of the combustion engine is approaching a threshold value for upshift of the gearbox, activating (S107) the service brakes for the purpose of reducing the rotational speed of the combustion engine. A computer program and a computer-readable medium, as well as a vehicle comprising the control device are also provided.
