Method and system for propelling a vehicle

The present invention relates to a method for propelling a vehicle (100),the vehicle (100) comprising:a first power source (101) configured to selectively provide a controllable power to propel at least one drive wheel (113, 114) of said vehicle (100), the first power source being an internal combustion engine (101);a second power source (110) configured to selectively provide a controllable power to propel at least one drive wheel (113, 114) of said vehicle (100), the second power source comprising at least one electrical machine (110);an energy store (111) for powering said second power source (110) when said second power source (110) provides a propelling power to said at least one drive wheel, the energy store (111) being chargeable by regenerative braking. The method comprises, when to climb an uphill (302):based on topography data, determining a control of said first (101) and second (110) power source when climbing said uphill (302),determining whether to charge said energy store (111) prior to climbing said uphill (302) based on said determination of said control of said first (101) and second (110) power source, andapplying a regenerative brake force (PCHARGE; PCHARGE2) when said energy store (111) is to be charged.
