Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: radio ranging. SUBSTANCE: method uses four measuring cycles and involves emission of vertical polarization signal to target, measuring voltage of signal which is reflected by target and is received with same polarization, emission of horizontal polarization signal to target, measuring voltage of signal which is reflected by target and is received with same polarization, emission of linear polarization signal, which polarization plane is turned by 45 degrees with respect to vertical, measuring voltage of signal which is reflected by target and is received with orthogonal polarization, emission of round polarization signal to target, measuring voltage of signal which is reflected by target and is received with same polarization. When fourth cycle is finished, measured amplitude values of voltage of received signals are used for calculation of such polarization characteristics of target as shape electric factor ρ, target phase shift vand target orientation angle with respect to polarization basis α. Corresponding device has transmitter, antenna switch, rotating section of round waveguide, in which phase quarter-wave plate is mounted, Faraday shifter, mirror antenna, receiver, four sources of reference voltage, commutator of reference voltage levels, clock oscillator, dividing circuit, final-control mechanism for rotation of section of round waveguide, detector of angular moments of position of phase plate, register which stores angle code, matching circuit, analog-to-digital converter, decoder for choice of memory units, three subtraction units, unit which calculates polarization characteristics r, Φ, α and three indicators. EFFECT: increased precision, minimal number of measuring cycles.
