Zusammenfassung:FIELD: aerosol.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to embodiments of an aerosol delivery device. The aerosol delivery device comprises a casing that houses a reservoir configured to hold the aerosol precursor composition, a heating element, and a power supply connected to an electrical load that contains a heating element. The power supply comprises a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a linear regulator between the power supply and the load, the linear regulator being configured to maintain a constant voltage level across the electrical load. The device contains a microprocessor configured to operate in an active mode, in which the microprocessor is configured to direct power from the power source to the heating element and thus control the heating element to activate and vaporize the components of the aerosol precursor composition. The power supply contains a rechargeable supercapacitor capable of being charged from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and capable of supplying power to an electrical load. The linear regulator is connected to a rechargeable supercapacitor between the rechargeable supercapacitor and the electrical load. The resistor is connected to a lithium-ion battery between the lithium-ion battery and a rechargeable supercapacitor. The microprocessor is configured to direct power from the power source to the heating element, direct power from the rechargeable supercapacitor to the heating element, and thus control the heating element to activate and vaporize the components of the aerosol precursor composition. The supercapacitor smooths out fluctuating power from the rechargeable lithium-ion battery when the rechargeable lithium-ion battery is weakened, thereby extending its lifespan and cycle life. The linear regulator is configured to maintain a constant voltage level on the electrical load until the output voltage of the supercapacitor is below the input voltage range of the linear regulator. The linear regulator prevents the supercapacitor from discharging too quickly and promotes uniform current dissipation so that the supercapacitor supplies constant power to the electrical load.
