Zusammenfassung:FIELD: agriculture.SUBSTANCE: system comprises: at least one wireless detector; and a central data processing means of the detector. One or each detector is made with the possibility to measure at least one of the temperature, water content, and nutrient content in the hydroponic substrate for growing the plant. Wherein one or each detector is additionally made with the possibility to transmit the detector identifier and the measured property or properties over the communication connection to the central processing means of the detector. The central data processing means for the detector is made with the possibility: to store in the memory the predetermined irrigation data defining the ratio between: a plurality of values for one or more of the temperature, pH value, water content and/or nutrient content of the substrate; and the plurality of desired irrigation output values; processing the measured properties obtained from each detector to determine the calculated substrate properties; and providing an output indicating the desired irrigation input for the substrate, based on the calculated properties and the predetermined irrigation data, obtained from the detector or detectors. The method includes the stages for providing a system according to any of the items 1-11; and controlling the irrigation input into the substrate on the basis of the output indicating the desired irrigation input for the substrate, provided by the central data processing means for the system detector. The portable communication device of the detector for use in the system according to item 1 is made with the possibility to process the measured properties obtained from the system detector to determine the calculated substrate properties; and to display the calculated properties to the user. The detector for the system according to any of the items 1-11 is made with the possibility to measure properties indicating the substrate temperature, water content and nutrient content; and to transmit the measured property or properties over the communication connection to the central processing means of the detector for converting to the value of the substrate temperature, water content and nutrient content.
