At that the filling insert is mounted on the supporting part of the table at a time when the RF head coil assembly is not installed on the supporting part of the table. The recess part of the table comprises a central anchoring groove, which is located approximately in the center of the recess portion, and a front fixing recess, which is arranged along the front edge of the recess portion. The filling insert has a front fixing element that connects with the front fixing recess and a central anchoring element that connects with the central anchoring groove for alignment and fixation of the filling insert in place on the table. The insert for the table further comprises a flat upper surface which is flush with the upper surface of the patient supporting table when the insert table is joint to the recess portion of the table, and a lower surface with a contour such that the shape of the bottom surface complements the shape of the recess portion of the table; as a result, the lower surface of the insert fits into and connects with the recess part of the table.
