Zusammenfassung:FIELD: radio engineering, communication.SUBSTANCE: in the method of tracking an object, the novelty lies in that motion parameters of the object are estimated using a Kalman filter in initial conditions for estimates are set; the current signal-to-noise ratio in the signal received from the object is determined; a signal-to-noise ratio threshold value is set; the signal-to-noise ratio is used to determine the current root-mean-square error of the object coordinate measurement; said value is smoothed out and the obtained error value is used to determine Kalman filter gain constants; the current signal-to-noise ratio value is compared with the threshold and, if it less than the threshold, a feature indicating absence of a signal reflected from the signal is generated and further generation of extrapolated coordinates is carried out based on motion parameter estimates of the object which are stored at the beginning of generation of the feature indicating absence of a received signal, with subsequent correction of values thereof, taking into account reduction in information content of the stored parameters with progression of the current moment in time from the beginning of generation of the feature indicating absence of a signal; and when converting extrapolated coordinates of the object to coordinates for setting the antenna beam for emitting a probe signal, time lag of these coordinates relative the time when coordinates of the object are generated based on the signal received from the object is taken into account.
