Zusammenfassung: | FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic method of measuring flow of liquid and gaseous media involves transmitting a signal at a certain frequency to transmitting transducers mounted on the surface of a pipe equidistant from each other along the axis of the pipe; A resultant ultrasonic signal is generated. The resultant signal is received by receiving transducers, also mounted on the surface of the pipe equidistant from each other along the axis of the pipe. The signal is transmitted with time-varying phase difference between the signals reaching the transmitting transducers. The direction of the resultant ultrasonic signal from transmitting transducers is changed and the signal is scanned along the axis of the pipe. The amplitude of the signal received by the receiving transducers depends on the direction of the resultant signal. Change in amplitude of signals received by the receiving transducers is recorded. The amplitude which corresponds to the minimum value of the resultant signal from two neighbouring transducers is determined and phase difference which corresponds to the given minimum value is determined, from which the velocity and flow of the fluid medium is calculated. The ultrasonic flow metre has transmitting and receiving ultrasonic transducers, an electric oscillation generator, a signal divider connected to the transmitting transducers, signal amplifiers and signal processing units connected to the receiving transducers, as well as a control unit connected to the generator, signal divider and signal processing units.
