The device, which is designed for use in an underground well, has: a long holder; an antenna which is placed in the holder, where the antenna can transmit or receive electromagnetic energy; and a composite case which is placed around the said holder, where the case has a uniform electrically conducting surface, which forms a short circuiting circuit near the antenna.
