After charge melting further melting is carried out by direct current with inclined plasmatron, which is installed in furnace wall, at the angle of 15-30° to metal bath. In all periods of melting the ratio of arc length to bath diameter amounts to 0.7-0.85. ^ EFFECT: increase of arc radiation to metal and reduction of radiation to furnace walls and arch. ^ 3 dwg
