Zusammenfassung:	FIELD: electrical engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed converter designed to convert electrical energy between voltage supply (supply mains) and at least one current supply, such as load, has switch matrix connecting voltage supply to current supply. This matrix converter is characterized in that each of mentioned switches has two contacts disposed in respective separate parallel planes and photoconductive diamond substrate placed between two mentioned contacts of switch. Each switch is controlled by light source irradiating diamond substrate disposed between two contacts. Light source of each respective switch is disposed so that it faces one of two contacts of switch which is provided with plurality of holes for passing light from mentioned source and substrate. ^ EFFECT: ability of operation at high voltages in spite of small size. ^ 9 cl, 8 dwg
