FIELD: monitoring overhead power transmission ^ lines for thawing deposits on conductors (ground wires) in due time. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed device designed for detecting ice, snow, and frost on intermediate-span conductor of overhead power transmission line has remote-transmission unit, two force-metering transducers, each being loosely suspended between supporting structure crossarm and respective insulator string; lower ends of both insulator strings are hinged together to form V-shaped suspension with wire attached thereto; upper ends of transducer are secured to supporting structure crossarm and spaced apart through distance equal to length of insulator string and transducer to form equilateral triangle together with V-shaped suspension; device also has relative wind direction meter, wind speed meter, four functional converters, threshold shaper, two threshold elements, and OR gate. ^ EFFECT: provision for automation deposit detection process. ^ 2 cl, 9 dwg
