UMBILICAL TOWER

FIELD: launching facilities for launch vehicles. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed umbilical tower has U-shaped truss structure including two parallel towers which are provided with horizontal servicing platforms; arranged in between these towers are devices for withdrawal of umbilical connectors and rocket holding units. Horizontal servicing platforms are located between towers on rolls for performing reciprocating motion relative to rocket by means of hydraulic drives mounted on towers and provided with lemniscate guide mechanisms or endless rope drives with counter-weights. Horizontal servicing platforms are provided with sectors for embracing the rocket which are articulated on end faces of servicing platforms directed towards rocket for turn in horizontal plane. Devices for withdrawal of umbilical connectors and holding the rocket are secured on mast which is located before horizontal servicing platforms and is mounted for performing reciprocating motion relative to rocket by means of individual hydraulic drives provided with curvilinear lemniscate guide mechanisms. ^ EFFECT: simplified construction; enhanced reliability; adaptability of servicing systems for launch vehicles of various classes. ^ 5 dwg
